Code of Conduct for Members

(Applicable to: Member / Senior Research Fellow / Corresponding Member / Honorary Member)

Article I – Purpose

The National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (hereinafter referred to as “the Academy”) is committed to advancing scientific research, technological innovation, ethical governance, and international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.

To safeguard the Academy’s academic integrity, institutional credibility, and international reputation, this Code of Conduct is hereby established.

Article II – Scope of Application

This Code applies to all individuals holding titles or honorary designations granted by the Academy, including but not limited to:

  • Member

  • Senior Research Fellow

  • Corresponding Member

  • Honorary Member

Article III – Fundamental Obligations of Members

Article 3 – Academic and Professional Integrity

Members shall:

  1. Uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibit fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, data manipulation, or improper authorship;

  2. Maintain objectivity, professionalism, and rigor in research, publication, peer review, and public academic discourse;

  3. Refrain from using Academy affiliation to endorse pseudo-scientific claims, misleading research, or unverified technologies.

Article 4 – Legal and Social Responsibility

Members shall:

  1. Comply with the laws and regulations of their respective countries and jurisdictions;

  2. Respect fundamental human rights, public interests, and ethical principles in AI research, development, and application;

  3. Avoid participation in AI-related activities that clearly violate ethical norms, public safety, or social stability.

Article 5 – Protection of the Academy’s Reputation

Members shall:

  1. Use the title “Member of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence” and related designations accurately, responsibly, and within authorized scope;

  2. Not engage in unauthorized commercial, political, fundraising, or investment-related activities in the name of the Academy;

  3. Abstain from any conduct that may materially damage the Academy’s reputation, credibility, or international standing.

Article IV – Prohibited Conduct

Article 6 – Serious Violations

Any of the following acts shall be deemed serious violations of this Code:

  1. Falsifying, exaggerating, or misrepresenting Academy membership, title, role, or authorization;

  2. Using Academy affiliation for fraud, illegal fundraising, commercial deception, or improper personal gain;

  3. Issuing statements, endorsements, or external cooperation in the Academy’s name without authorization;

  4. Making statements or engaging in actions that seriously harm the reputation or credibility of the Academy;

  5. Malicious defamation, harassment, threats, or attacks against the Academy, its members, or partner institutions;

  6. Criminal offenses, major legal violations, or serious breaches of integrity resulting in significant negative social impact.

Article V – Investigation and Review Procedures

Article 7 – Initiation of Investigation

The Academy may initiate an investigation under any of the following circumstances:

  1. Receipt of a written complaint, report, or credible evidence;

  2. Publicly available information indicating potential serious misconduct;

  3. Determination by the Academy’s Council or Ethics & Discipline Committee that review is necessary.

Article 8 – Principles of Investigation

Investigations shall be conducted in accordance with the principles of:

  • Independence and impartiality;

  • Objectivity and evidence-based assessment;

  • Providing the concerned member a reasonable opportunity to respond and explain, except where circumstances make this impracticable.

Article VI – Disciplinary Measures and Revocation of Title

Article 9 – Disciplinary Actions

Depending on the severity of the violation, the Academy may impose one or more of the following measures:

  1. Written warning;

  2. Requirement of rectification or public clarification;

  3. Suspension of membership rights;

  4. Revocation of membership title;

  5. Public announcement of the disciplinary decision through official Academy channels.

Article 10 – Revocation of Title

The Academy reserves the right to immediately revoke a member’s title without prior warning under any of the following circumstances:

  1. The conduct has caused serious damage to the Academy’s reputation or public trust;

  2. The conduct involves criminal acts or serious breaches of integrity;

  3. The member refuses to cooperate with the investigation or provides false or misleading information.

Upon revocation:

  • The individual shall immediately cease all use of Academy-related titles, affiliations, and representations;

  • The Academy reserves the right to pursue further legal or institutional actions where applicable.

Article VII – Final Provisions

Article 11 – Authority of Interpretation

The final authority for interpretation of this Code of Conduct rests with the Academy’s Council.

Article 12 – Effectiveness

This Code shall take effect on the date of official publication.
Acceptance of any Academy title shall be deemed as full acknowledgment and acceptance of this Code of Conduct.
