Prof. Zhou Huiyu from the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Leicester has been elected as a Corresponding Fellow of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI)

Recently, Prof. Zhou from the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Leicester was elected as a Corresponding Fellow of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI) for his outstanding contributions in the field of artificial intelligence. This honor is not only a high recognition of Professor Zhou's personal achievements, but also demonstrates the influence of the University of Leicester in the global field of artificial intelligence research.

As an internationally renowned expert in artificial intelligence, Prof. Zhou has long been dedicated to research in fields such as computer vision, deep learning, medical image analysis, and intelligent systems. The multimodal data analysis method he proposed has made significant breakthroughs in early disease diagnosis, image processing, and target recognition, providing innovative solutions for multiple application fields such as healthcare and smart cities. His research results have been published in top journals and conferences, receiving widespread citations and high praise.

 

The National Academy of Artificial Intelligence was established in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence, with the aim of promoting global research and application of AI technology. The honor of Corresponding Member is awarded to international scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the development of artificial intelligence technology.

Introduction to Professor Zhou Huayu:

Prof. Zhou is currently a professor at the School of Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Leicester, and serves as the chairman and member of the program committee for multiple international academic conferences. He has a rich interdisciplinary research background, particularly with profound expertise in the fields of computer vision and medical image analysis.

 

His main research areas include:

1. Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition: Developing efficient algorithms for object detection and image understanding.

2. Medical image analysis: Promote the application of AI technology in medical imaging to achieve early diagnosis and prediction of diseases.

3. Deep Learning and Intelligent Systems: Optimizing Intelligent System Performance through Multimodal Data Analysis.

 

Prof. Zhou has led multiple important international research projects and published hundreds of high-level papers in top journals such as IEEE and Elsevier. His research achievements have been widely applied in fields such as healthcare, transportation, and urban management, making important contributions to the technological progress of the industry.


Prof. Zhou received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Radio Technology from Huazhong University of Science and Technology of China and a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Dundee of United Kingdom, respectively. He was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer Vision from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom, supervised by Professors Patrick Green (Psychology) and Andrew Wallace (Computer Engineering).

 

Prof. Zhou heads the AI and Machine Learning Group and leads the Biomedical Image Processing Lab (BIPL) at University of Leicester. He was Director of MSc Programme (2018-2019) and Coordinator of MSc Distance Learning at Informatics (2018-2022), and is PGR Director of CMS, Deputy Director of Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Modelling (AIDAM) and Member of the Executive Group of Apollo-Leicester Centre for Digital Health and Precision Medicine. Prior to this appointment, he worked as Reader (2018-2020) at University of Leicester, and Lecturer (2012-2017) at the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Queen's University Belfast (QUB). He was a visiting scholar of QUB during 2018-2020.
