Professor Natarajan's research focuses mainly on statistical relationship learning, probabilistic inference, and health informatics. His work is dedicated to developing interpretable machine learning models and applying them to the healthcare field to solve complex decision-making problems. He proposed an innovative method that combines logical reasoning with probability graph models, significantly improving the reasoning ability of AI systems in uncertain environments. The relevant research results have been published in top international academic journals such as Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research and Machine Learning, and have been practically applied in fields such as medical decision support systems and personalized treatment.

As a core member of the UT Dallas Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Professor Natarajan has led multiple projects funded by the National Science Foundation, United States(NSF)、 A research project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). His research team collaborates with multiple clinical institutions to apply AI technology to fields such as chronic disease management, precision medicine, and public health. For example, his personalized treatment plan optimization model based on reinforcement learning has been preliminarily verified in the diabetes management system.

Professor Natarajan enjoys a high reputation in the academic community and has received numerous important honors. In 2015, he was awarded the National Science Foundation, United States (NSF) Outstanding Young Professor Award (NSF CAREER Award) to support his research in the field of statistical relational learning. In 2011, he was nominated for the "Computer and Mind Award" at the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI), which recognizes young scholars who have made outstanding achievements in the field of artificial intelligence. In addition, he also serves as a member of the program committee for several top international conferences, including AAAI, IJCAI, and UAI.

Professor Natarajan has also achieved significant results in teaching and talent development. Several doctoral students under his guidance have emerged in both academia and industry, with some students working in renowned universities and technology companies. His courses feature a combination of theory and practice, and are highly popular among students.

Professor Natarajan's personal webpage shows that his recent research focuses include the application of reinforcement learning in chronic disease management, the construction of biomedical knowledge graphs, and the development of AI driven clinical decision support systems. His team is collaborating with multiple medical institutions to explore the potential of AI technology in improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.
