Dr. Anna Sung, Senior Lecturer at the University of Chester, has been selected as a NAAI Senior Research Fellow!

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Anna Sung, Senior Lecturer at the University of Chester (equivalent to Associate Professor in the UK) and expert in artificial intelligence and fintech, has been officially selected as a Senior Research Fellow at the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI). This honor aims to recognize her outstanding achievements in the fields of artificial intelligence ethics, fintech applications, and educational technology innovation, as well as her outstanding leadership in promoting interdisciplinary research and global collaboration.

Academic and Professional Background: International Perspective and Interdisciplinary Integration

 

Dr. Sung's academic background spans across biology, business management, and educational technology, reflecting his unique interdisciplinary perspective. She has obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology from the University of Hong Kong, a Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences from the University of New England in Australia, an MBA from Napier University in Edinburgh, and a PhD in Business Administration from UCAM University in Spain. In addition, she holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) qualification certification in the United States and has been awarded the Fellow of the British Higher Education Association (FHEA) title.

 

Currently, Dr. Sung serves as a senior lecturer in the Department of Science, Business, and Enterprise at the University of Chester, as well as the director of the Master of Science program in Financial Technology and Business Analytics. He is also responsible for academic cooperation projects in countries such as Singapore and Malaysia. As an active doctoral supervisor, she guided 8 doctoral students in various cutting-edge fields including big language modeling, computer vision, educational technology, and behavioral data analysis.

 

Research achievement: Pioneer of ethical AI and fintech

 

Dr. Sung's research focuses on ethical AI and is dedicated to exploring the social impact and sustainable development of technology. She has led multiple research projects that have received funding from international organizations such as OpenAI and the European Regional Development Fund, and have achieved significant results

 

-Research on AI Ethics and Bias: Her led project, "Assessment of Emotion and Frequency Bias in GPT-4 Generated Financial Reports" (funded by OpenAI), revealed potential biases in AI models for financial text generation, providing critical data support for industry optimization.

 

-Technology Empowers Non Profit Organizations: Her development of the "Stakeholder Engagement Enhancement System Based on Fine tuned AI Language Models" (funded by the University of Chester) has helped non-profit organizations improve communication efficiency and has received high praise from academia and industry.

 

-Academic influence: His paper "Research on the Development Trends of Microlearning" has been selected as one of the top 5% high impact literature in Altmetric's global rankings, and multiple works have been listed as core textbooks for university courses. She ranks among the top 30 global scholars in the field of AI ethics in Google Scholar.

Dr. Sung is one of the pioneers of fintech education in the UK. She led the development of the UK's first undergraduate program in financial technology (BSc Financial Technology Management) and founded the Financial Technology Innovation Center at Wrexham Grindelwald University. As a member of the FinTECHTalents Steering Committee, she has been invited multiple times to give keynote speeches at international conferences such as the Dubai FinTech 2017 Summit and the Rexham Digital Future Forum, and to participate in policy discussions with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK, promoting in-depth dialogue between industry and academia.

Dr. Sung actively engages in global scientific research cooperation and is currently a member of the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Laboratory, working with teams from multiple countries to explore the inclusive applications of AI in fields such as healthcare and education. In addition, she serves as a trustee for the millennium old Chester Cathedral, dedicated to cultural heritage preservation and community integration, demonstrating her social responsibility.
