Academic Summary:

Professor Wenyuan Li is an internationally renowned expert in power system reliability and probabilistic planning, having made creative and foundational contributions to these fields. His work has been recognized with numerous international awards, including the IEEE Power & Energy Society (IEEE PES) Roy Billinton Power System Reliability Award, International PMAPS Merit Award, IEEE Canada Outstanding Engineer Award, IEEE Canada Electric Power Medal and Outstanding Scientist Award of Chongqing Government in China. He served as the chair/member of many international conferences and technical committees. He was the chairman of the IEEE PES Roy Billinton Power Reliability Award Review Board, is currently a Resident Director of the Board of the International Society of Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems (PMAPS), and holds fellowships and memberships in multiple prestigious engineering academies and professional societies. He was seleted in the Stanford/Elsevier lists of the world top 2% highly-cited scientists since 2019.

Professor Li is one of the worlds leading scholars in power system risk assessment. His contributions have enriched power engineering theory and have been widely applied in actual engineering projects globally. Professor Li also formulated a comprehensive framework of probabilistic planning theory and methodologies for power systems, which have been successfully applied in practical engineering. Over many years, these methods have generated considerable technical and economic benefits in power operation, investment and asset management projects. The software tools and databases he developed are highly regarded internationally.

He published a large number of high-impact research articles and books. Four English monographs he authored have been distributed worldwide, two of which have been translated into several other languages.

He has provided extensive technical consultation, lectures, and professional training to professors, engineers, and technical managers in more than ten countries including the United States, Canada, and China, based on his research achievements.

Over recent decade, Professor Li and his team have dedicated to the applications of artificial intelligence to electrical engineering and the interdisciplinary field of medicine and engineering, and data analytics. They have completed many research projects, published numerous papers and held multiple invention patents in these areas.
