The Middle East Research Institute has been officially established, and Dr. Xin Gao, a tenured full professor at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, has been appointed as the dean of the institute

On February 6, 2025, the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI) officially announced the establishment of the Middle East Research Institute and appointed Dr. Gao Xin, a tenured full professor at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, as its dean. This move marks a new stage in NAAI's research and collaboration in the Middle East region.

Professor Xin Gao is a world-renowned scholar at the intersection of computer science and biology. He has published numerous high-level papers in the fields of bioinformatics and machine learning, and holds numerous international patents. As the Director of KAUST Computational Biology Center and Deputy Director of Smart Healthcare Center, Professor Gao Xin has made significant achievements in promoting the application of artificial intelligence technology in fields such as healthcare and bioinformatics. His leadership skills and academic achievements will provide strong support for the development of NAAI Middle East Institute.


Future prospects

 

The National Academy of Artificial Intelligence in the United States has been committed to promoting innovation and development in the field of artificial intelligence, strengthening academic exchanges and cooperation, and enhancing public understanding and cognition of artificial intelligence. In response to the rapid development of global artificial intelligence technology and the urgent demand for AI technology in the Middle East, NAAI has decided to establish the Middle East Research Institute, aiming to promote innovation and application of AI technology in the Middle East through cutting-edge research, educational projects, policy recommendations, and public services.    

 

The NAAI Middle East Research Institute will rely on the professional knowledge of Professor Gao Xin and his team, combined with the actual needs of the Middle East region, to carry out research and application of artificial intelligence technology. The research focus will include but not limited to fields such as smart healthcare, smart cities, energy management, and agricultural automation. In addition, the research institute will actively cooperate with government agencies, universities, research institutions, and enterprises in the Middle East to jointly promote innovation and development of artificial intelligence technology.    

 

The establishment of the NAAI Middle East Research Institute will not only strengthen NAAI's research and collaboration network globally, but also inject new vitality into the development of artificial intelligence technology in the Middle East region. NAAI believes that under the leadership of Professor Gao Xin, the Middle East Institute will achieve a series of important research results and make significant contributions to the development of artificial intelligence technology in the Middle East region and even globally.
