Selection criteria for the Artificial Intelligence Theory and Application Award of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (this year is expected to be awarded in December 2024)


I. General Provisions


1. This award is awarded to two scientists every year in the field of artificial intelligence theory and application.


2. The selection process will strictly follow the principles of academic, impartiality and authority.


3. The winner will receive a $300,000 prize in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of artificial intelligence.


II. Selection criteria


1. Innovation: Candidates‘ research should have significant originality and innovation in the theory or application of artificial intelligence, especially in the design, training, reasoning or interpretation of large models.


2. Practicality: The candidate’s work should have a significant impact on the practical application of artificial intelligence, including but not limited to automation, data analysis, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics and other fields.


3. Influence: Candidates‘ research results should be widely recognized by peers and have a far-reaching impact in academia and industry, and be verified through citation, application or further research.


4. Sustainability: The candidate’s work should lay the foundation for the long-term development of artificial intelligence and provide new ideas or tools for follow-up research.


III. Bonus distribution and use


1. The prize will be paid to the winners in a lump sum in recognition of their outstanding contributions in the field of artificial intelligence.


2. Winners are free to use their bonus to support their research work, academic exchanges, team building or other artificial intelligence-related activities.


3. Winners have the responsibility to use the bonus reasonably to ensure that it is used to promote the development of the field of artificial intelligence.


IV. Special Considerations


1. The jury will pay special attention to candidates who have made significant progress in the field of large models but have not yet been widely recognized.


2. The jury will consider the contribution of candidates in promoting the diversity, fairness and inclusiveness of artificial intelligence.


V. Selection process


1. Nomination: Candidates can be nominated by members of academia, industry or the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences.


2. Preliminary review: The jury will conduct a preliminary screening of all nominations to determine the shortlist.


3. Final review: The jury will conduct a detailed evaluation of the materials of the finalists, and may invite candidates for interviews or on-site reports if necessary.


4. Awards: The final winners will be announced at the annual meeting of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence, and prizes and certificates will be awarded.


VI. Supplementary Provisions


1. The right to interpret this selection criteria belongs to the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence.


2. The jury reserves the right to adjust the selection process under special circumstances.


3. Winners are required to agree to make a public academic report on their award-winning research within one year after the award ceremony to share their research results and experience to promote progress and exchange in the field of artificial intelligence. At the same time, the winners are also obliged to participate in relevant publicity activities to enhance the public‘s awareness and understanding of artificial intelligence.
