Nomination and Evaluation Mechanism for Academy Members (2025 Edition)
The title of Member of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI) represents one of the highest honors awarded by the Academy. It recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of artificial intelligence in science, technology, education, industry, or public policy. The Member title is designed to promote global collaboration and innovation in the AI field.
To ensure fairness, scientific rigor, and international representation, the following nomination and evaluation mechanism is officially adopted:
1. Nomination Eligibility
Candidates must be nominated by at least one current NAAI Member or Senior Member.
Self-nominations are not accepted.
Nominators should be familiar with the candidate’s academic or professional background and reputation.
2. Required Nomination Materials
The nominator must submit the following documents:
Completed NAAI Member Nomination Form (signed by the nominator)
The candidate’s comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A Statement of Contributions (max. 1000 words), highlighting the candidate’s achievements and impact in research, technology, industry, or policy
One signed letter of recommendation (written by the nominator)
Optional supporting documents: representative publications, patents, project outcomes, awards, or evidence of societal impact
All documents must be submitted in English and in PDF format.
3. Timeline
Nomination Period: May 1 – July 31 (each year)
Announcement of Elected Members: Between mid-October and the end of November
Submissions received after the deadline will be automatically considered for the next evaluation cycle.
4. Evaluation Process
Preliminary Review
The NAAI Secretariat reviews submissions for completeness and basic eligibility.
Expert Committee Evaluation
Qualified candidates are assessed by the Academy Member Evaluation Committee, composed of Senior Members across AI domains.
Regional Consultation (if needed)
Regional advisors may be consulted to ensure geographical balance and contextual insight.
Voting Procedure
A candidate must receive no less than 70% affirmative votes from the Evaluation Committee to be recommended for membership.
Final Approval
The final list of elected Members is submitted to the NAAI Executive Council for official ratification.
5. Announcement and Recognition
All elected Members will be notified individually before the public release.
The official list will be published on the NAAI website and in Academy communications between October and November each year.
Newly elected Members will be formally recognized at the NAAI Annual Academic Conference and awarded official certificates.
