Announcement: Formation of Global AI Joint Laboratories, Centers, Institutes & Expert Workstations with Global Tech Enterprises

To accelerate global AI innovation and foster deep collaboration between academic, industry, and research sectors, NAAI is launching a multi-tiered ecosystem of AI Joint Laboratories, Joint Research Centers, Joint Research Institutes, and Member‑Expert Workstations, in partnership with leading technology enterprises worldwide.

 1. Scope of Collaboration Structures

  • NAAI AI Joint Laboratory: Industry-affiliated lab focusing on applied AI development and rapid prototype validation.

  • NAAI Joint Research Center: Multi-stakeholder center for joint academic–industry research projects.

  • NAAI Joint Research Institute: Strategic long-term partnership framework integrating teaching, research, and policy development.

  • NAAI Member‑Expert Workstation: Platform for AI Academicians (Members) to collaborate on high‑impact expert advisory, testing, and evaluation with partners.

 2. Areas of Collaboration

  • Development and testing of trustworthy, ethical, and resilient AI, including evaluation tools like model stress tests, privacy-preserving technologies, and safety benchmarks.

  • Pilot deployments in domains such as healthcare, smart cities, climate resilience, industrial automation, and AI governance modeling, following global trends in responsible AI innovation .

  • Joint training of graduate and postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholar exchanges, and co-supervision frameworks.

  • Hosting expert-led seminars, policy dialogues, evaluation challenges, and open benchmark publications aligned with initiatives like NIST and US AI Safety Institute frameworks .

 3. Partnership Models & Incentives

Each agreement may include:

  • Clear articulation of resource sharing, including infrastructure, datasets, and computing environments.

  • Expected deliverables: joint publications, standard protocols, evaluation benchmarks, and technology pilots.

  • Governance guidelines: a paired Steering Committee with semi‑annual oversight meetings, publicly available joint deliverables, and periodic institutional review.

  • Non-binding framework terms, with specific funding or intellectual property to be formalized in addendum agreements.

 4. Invitation to Global Tech Enterprise Partners

NAAI invites expressions of interest from:

  • Global enterprises with strong AI portfolio—for example in safety-critical systems, AI evaluation, large-scale model development, or industry-scale ethical AI solutions.

  • Interested parties should submit a Letter of Intent, including:

    • Description of key AI capabilities and infrastructure.

    • Areas of proposed collaboration (e.g., joint lab vs. institute vs. workstation).

    • Leadership model, planned duration, and alignment with NAAI standards.

    • Expected outputs and impact evaluation metrics.

 5. Timeline and Milestones
