Vipin Kumar , He is an AAAS/ACM/IEEE/IAM Fellow, a professor at the University of Minnesota Systems, and currently serves as the William Norris Endowed Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

 

In 1977, Vipin Kumar obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering from Ruhr Institute of Technology (formerly known as Ruhr University) in India. In 1979, he obtained a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering from Philips International Research Institute in Eindhoven, Netherlands. He then went to the United States for further studies and obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, Park in 1982.

 

Vipin Kumar's research areas include data mining, high-performance computing, parallel computing, and machine learning. His research has been cited over 127000 times by Google Scholar and has made significant contributions to the development of the concept of equal efficiency measures for evaluating the scalability of parallel algorithms, efficient parallel algorithms and software for sparse matrix factorization, and graph partitioning.
