Dr. Anna Sung has an international and multidisciplinary background. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology, specializing in Cellular and Molecular Biology, a Graduate Diploma in Health Science Research, a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Business Administration. She obtained these qualifications from the University of Hong Kong, the University of New England in Australia, Edinburgh Napier University in the U.K., and UCAM in Spain. Additionally, she is a Certified Management Accountant in the United States.

 

Dr. Sung is a recognized expert in ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and has conducted extensive research in this field. She is ranked among the top 30 researchers in this field on Google Scholar. She is a member of the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab and is collaborating with national and international researchers on various projects. Beyond ethical AI, her research covers Artificial Intelligence, Financial Technology (FinTech), Educational Technology, Microlearning, Multimedia Learning, User Experience, and Behavioral Data Analytics. Her work has been published in leading academic journals. One of her papers, A Review of the Trend of Microlearning, published in the Journal of Work-Applied Management, is ranked in the top 5% of all research outputs by Altmetric. Many of her studies are included as essential readings in university courses. She is actively exploring the application of Large Language Models and Computer Vision in healthcare, education, finance and business.

 

As a pioneer in Financial Technology (FinTech) education, Dr. Sung led the development of the U.K.'s first undergraduate FinTech degree, the BSc (Hons) in Financial Technology Management at Wrexham Glyndwr University. She was also the founding Lead of the university's FinTech Innovation Centre and served on the steering committee of FinTECHTalents. She has delivered talks at various FinTech events, including the FinTech 2017 conference in Dubai and the Digital Future event in Wrexham. Dr. Sung actively engages in industry discussions, such as the FinTech Roundtable meeting organized by the FCA.

 

Currently, Dr. Sung is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chester in the Faculty of Science, Business, and Enterprise. She also serves as an assessment officer and leads the MSc FinTech and Business Analytics programme as the Programme Director. In addition, she manages academic partnerships in several countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Sri Lanka. As an active doctoral supervisor, she is currently supervising eight PhD students.

 

Dr. Sung has been invited to review textbooks and academic journals in various fields. In recognition of her contributions to education, she was awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2016.

 

Beyond academia, she serves as a Trustee and Chapter Member at the Chester Cathedral, which has a rich history that dates back nearly 1,000 years.
