Academic career and achievements
Professor Antonio De Maio was born on June 20, 1974 in Sorrento, Italy. He obtained a PhD in Engineering (1998) and a PhD in Philosophy (2002) in Information Engineering from Federico II University in Naples, and graduated with excellent grades. He has been teaching at the school since 2003 and currently holds the position of professor.
Professor De Maio's research focuses mainly on statistical signal processing, particularly radar detection, optimization theory, and its applications in radar signal processing. His work laid an important foundation for the performance improvement and intelligent development of radar systems. His pioneering research in robust constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection, knowledge driven radar signal processing, and waveform design and diversity has provided important theoretical support for the development of modern radar technology.
International recognition and honor
Professor De Maio is a Fellow of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), an honor that recognizes his outstanding contributions in the field of radar engineering. In 2010, he was awarded the IEEE Fred Nathanson Memorial Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to radar technology before the age of 40. The award specifically mentions his outstanding achievements in "robust CFAR detection, knowledge driven radar signal processing, and waveform design and diversity".
In addition, Professor De Maio has published numerous high-level papers in top international journals and conferences, and has served as an editor and reviewer for multiple IEEE journals. His research achievements have not only promoted the advancement of radar technology, but also provided important references for the application of artificial intelligence in the field of signal processing.
