Dr. Andr é Ivanov is an internationally renowned scholar in the fields of electrical engineering and computer science. He obtained his PhD from McGill University in 1989 and subsequently joined UBC, serving as the head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2008 to 2018. Under his leadership, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UBC has redesigned its curriculum to better meet the needs of students and the industry. The new curriculum emphasizes maximizing students' learning outcomes through practical activities and actively introducing interactive projects with industry and community partners.

 

Dr. Ivanov's research covers multiple key areas such as the design, verification, testing, and reliability of VLSI circuits. He has published over 250 international conference and journal papers and holds multiple US patents. His work not only promotes technological progress in academia, but also provides important support for practical applications in the semiconductor industry. In 2001, he co founded Vector 12, a semiconductor intellectual property company, to further translate research findings into practical products.
