Professor Ashutosh Dutta is currently the Chief 5G Strategist and Lawrence R. Hafstad Sabbatical Scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL), and serves as the Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering program at the university. As the Chair of the IEEE Future Network Technology Community and a Member At Large representative of the IEEE Communications Society, he is deeply involved in the evolution of global communication technology and policy-making. His developed theories of "dynamic network slicing" and "edge intelligent collaboration" have been incorporated into the 5G core standard, directly promoting the implementation of the vision of 6G network intelligence.

In the dual roles of industry and academia, Professor Dutta has demonstrated outstanding cross-border integration capabilities. He served as the Chief Scientist at AT&T Bell Labs in his early years, leading the research and development of transition technologies from 4G to 5G; Currently at JHU/APL, he leads a team to build a "national security level intelligent communication platform" that combines AI algorithms with highly reliable networks and applies them to key areas such as national defense and emergency communication.
