Dr. Munjandira R. Chengappa is a senior technical expert with over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. His work in sustainable development and inclusive innovation has earned wide recognition. Currently, he serves as a member of the 9th Academic Senate of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), an appointment notified by the Secretariat of the Governor of Karnataka and communicated by the Vice-Chancellor of VTU.


Throughout his career, he has long collaborated with Hewlett Packard / Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Starting with software testing and performance analysis, he gradually deepened his engagement in NFV-based telco solutions, focusing on integrating cloud-native applications and virtual network functions (VNFs) into network functions virtualization infrastructure (NFVi) platforms. Presently, in the field of Telco Solution Engineering, he leads the solution integration of virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) and conducts performance benchmarking for network interface controllers in NFV systems.


As a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), he actively participates in various key initiatives. During his tenure as Vice-Chair of the IEEE Bangalore Section and Technology Lead of IEEE MOVE Outreach India, he spearheaded multiple humanitarian and sustainable development projects related to renewable energy, disaster response, and digital equity, effectively fostering collaboration between industry and academia. Additionally, since 2012, he has been one of the founding members of the Cloud Computing Innovation Council of India (CCICI), incubated under the IEEE Computer Society. In collaboration with the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) SG2 group, he has made significant contributions to defining cloud interoperability and portability standards for the Indian ecosystem.


In terms of academic research, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Visvesvaraya Technological University. Prior to this, he obtained a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Computer Science from Christ University, with his master's dissertation titled "A Trust Model for Cloud Security and Privacy for Startups in India." He has achieved remarkable results in the technical field: he is the author of numerous technical and IEEE publications, and has delivered speeches at various national and international events. For instance, at the 2019 Open Infrastructure Summit in Shanghai, he gave a talk on cloud interoperability and open standards for Digital India. Furthermore, he conducts research in emerging areas such as generative artificial intelligence, non-terrestrial networks, and edge intelligence, and actively advocates for technology standardization, striving to continue playing a pivotal role in the ever-evolving technical landscape.
